Decking is now one of the UK'S most popular home improvement. At Pure wood floors we have launched our new decking range, our decks come in all shapes sizes, both hard and softwood. All our decks are precision built with practical features giving all year round use.

Our quality construction methods and attention to detail produce some of the best decks in Europe. As a mark of our professionalism we have been chosen to build the largest deck in the UK, over 700m2.

A pure wood floors deck is built to last and by incorporating leading decking technology we can build you a deck that will not only stand the test of time but will also enhance any building or garden. Each of our decks is custom built - every one is different in design but they all share the same ingredients that produce a strong yet beautiful deck.

Here is our installation specification:

  • Site Clearance – Area to be weeded and 75mm of top soil removed or lawn cut into turf and removed. Topsoil/turf to be left on site for alternative use.
  • Low level deck foundations – 100mm dense concrete blocks a 2 metre centres on plastic damp proof course on 75 mm of concrete on compacted subsoil. 100mm x 100mm treated timber bearer placed across blocks and cemented in. Blackout liner to prevent vegetation.
  • High level deck support posts – 100mm x 100mm treated timber support posts at 2 metre centres in 450mm of concrete. Two joists to be bolted to post to form bearer. Blackout liner to prevent vegetation.
  • Sloping site – Both low and high level support
  • Joists – 47mm x 100mm treated timber joists at 500mm centres fixed with 100mm galvanised, cross-head screws.
  • Decking Boards – Three different possibilities, all with machined grooving:
    • Scandinavian Redwood – 25x100mm
    • Far Eastern ‘Yellow Balau’ – 19x90mm, 21x145mm, 28x145mm
    • Jarah – 19x85mm
  • Decking boards fixed with two 60mm galvanised screws at every joist (counter sunk below deck level) with drainage gap of approx. 4mm.
  • Timber treatment during construction – All cuts into timber to be re-treated with brush applied wood preserver before fixing.
  • Fascia boards – 25mm x 200mm treated timber fixed as required by slope of site. High level decks could include 1130mm x 760mm infill pancels from Richard Burbridge range.
  • Steps – Built from treated strings and covered in matching deck boards.
  • Balustrading and handrails – Compulsory due to building regulations for decks over 600mm above ground level. Five different possibilities from the Richard Burbridge range: American Balustrade, European Balustrade, Colonial Balustrade, Crosshatch Panel, Sunburst Panel
  • Pergolas, Planters, Arches, Arbours, Fencing – Extensive range in Forest catalogue with their 15 year guarantee against rot.
  • Under Deck Storage – Concealed cupboards formed in treated MDF and roofed in corrugated plastic with lockable door and padlock.
  • Final treatment – Softwood – coated in Cuprinol deck seal to enhance and protect natural colour and grain. Hardwood – coated in Cuprinol deck oil to enhance and protect natural colour and grain. Both soft and hardwood can also be stained with Cuprinol deck stain or decorative preserver in eight shades shown in Cuprinol catalogue.
  • Site clearance – Any waste materials to be removed and site left clean and tidy.
  • Five year guarantee – Written guarantee against defective materials or workmanship.
